Ask along the Side coast about the Manavgat Waterfall and the Green Canyon and you will often hear them sold as one attraction. They are indeed the same river — the Manavgat, the ancient Melas — yet they are two very different places, more than twenty kilometres apart, asking for two very different kinds of visit. One river, two landmarks
The Manavgat Waterfall sits on the lower river, a few kilometres from the town centre. Its fame is its width, not its height — the whole river steps down about five metres in one broad white curtain, framed by riverside terraces where you can linger over a glass of tea. It is a land visit, and a short one: most guests find an unhurried stop is enough, and are glad they came.
The Green Canyon is the same river more than twenty kilometres upstream, where the Oymapınar Dam turned a mountain gorge into a deep emerald reservoir. There is no shore promenade here — the walls rise straight from the water, so the canyon is experienced only by boat. Same water, entirely different world.
Two very different visits
Because one is a viewpoint and the other is a voyage, they never compete for the same day. The quick comparison:
- Waterfall: a short land stop near town — terraces, tea and photographs.

The waterfall slots easily into half a day in and around Manavgat town; the canyon takes its own day, with pickup from Side and Manavgat daily, from Alanya daily in season, and from Belek and Antalya (including Lara and Kundu) on Mondays and Thursdays.
